DESCRIPTION:Come on out to a beautiful site overlooking the Missouri River to learn about how to identify and remove bush honeysuckle plants and to generally discuss herbicide alternatives. Learn the latest thinking on the proliferation of unwanted plants in the landscape and explore what you can do to control or eliminate them in your yard without using systemic and persistent poisons. \nThe eminent Jay Doty\, PLA\, of Applied Conservation LLC\, will demonstrate root docking on bush honeysuckle. During the course of the event\, we’ll discuss the various issues\, opportunities and challenges of eradicating too-persistant plants like multifloral rose and others you may not even realize are considered invasive. \nCome prepared to get your hands dirty while you try out new tools like the Pullerbear\, the Rogue Hoe and the Beast! DESCRIPTION:Dreaming of spring and starting your kitchen garden? Then come on out to our seed starting class with our dynamic and knowledgeable SByN board member Sam Padilla. \nLearn when\, why and how to start seeds indoors so your veggies\, herbs and flowers have the best chances outside in the ground when the weather is right! \nWhich seeds are best for direct sowing outside? Which need stratification or a heat mat to start? Sam will also cover spring bed preparation and share her recipe for making your own organic fertilizer. \nIf you have a seed collection\, feel free to bring extras you’d like to share with fellow students. Bring your questions! Class starts at 10:15. Library opens at 10:00. \nNote: Kingshighway Library is a lovely neighborhood branch of the St. Louis Public Library\, and it has about ten dedicated parking spots in its lot.
